We care about your baby’s comfort and safety as much as you do. That’s why, when creating this carrier, we based it on principles familiar to all parents using car seats. Pediatricians recommend not leaving a child in a car seat for longer than 40 minutes at a time. This is because a static position puts stress on a baby’s delicate back and bones. It’s important to change your baby’s position for healthy development.
The same rules apply to the Freemom carrier. Even though our carriers are ergonomic and provide a physiological position (like a hammock), they still have limited mobility.
Therefore, we recommend removing your baby from the carrier every 40 minutes to an hour to change their position, do some light exercise, and allow them freedom of movement. This is the perfect opportunity for a diaper change, feeding, playing on a play mat, or simply cuddling in a different position. After a short break, you can comfortably place your baby back in the carrier.
Important! This is a wakefulness recommendation. If your baby is fast asleep, don’t wake them up. Sleep is a vital process. Simply sit gently next to them or place them flat in their carrier and rest together.
